Binge Or Cringe: Does ALTBalaji’s Puncch Beat Manage To Pack A Punch?
ALTBalaji’s latest offering Puncch Beat starring Priyank Sharma, Siddharth Sharma and Harshita Gaur in lead roles is very youth-centric in its flavor. Here’s what we think of it
Puncch Beat is a high-school drama which involves everything from boxing in the ring to foot-tapping dance sequences. It’s based on the lives of high-school students of Rosewood High. The show gives out complete Student of the Year vibes in terms of its treatment. There’s a boxer, a street fighter, a dancer; and the story depicts how their lives go through twists and turns. This show will transport you back to your school days and also remind you of all the fun and frolic times. May be not entirely, because the kids here are least interested in studying and more keen to do other things.
Speaking of the star cast, Puncch Beat stars Splitsvilla fame Priyank Sharma, Siddharth Sharma and Harshita Gaur in the lead roles. Honestly, the actors perform decently and the casting is on-point, given the setting of the show. The characters are more or less relatable and they do complete justice to the writing. Only if the screenplay was tight, this could have been a much better show, than it is now. The music deserves a special mention and also the overall production of the show adds more value.
Overall, Puncch Beat is fun and light-hearted. The writing and CGI could have been much better, but nonetheless it takes efforts to make a show on this scale and hats-off to the makers. It would be wrong to compare it to any similar films or shows. Watch it to know why it’s different than the rest.
